Operational Noise or Wear?

The disc brakes must operate without activating any wear sensor, if so equipped. If the wear sensor is activated, inspect the disc brake pads for wear and replace them if necessary.

It is normal for many brakes to emit an occasional slight squeal during operation. The squeal is most noticeable at low speeds and may sound similar to the audible wear detector squeal. The normal squeal may be increased if the brake pads get extremely wet, cold, hot, snowy, salty, or muddy. Semi-metallic pads are also more prone to slight squealing.
